Run a Best Ofthat can pay for itself

Sell sponsor slots, grow your list with real opted-in emails, and publish verified results winners can link back to all year. Every vote is confirmed by email, so each address gets one vote per category, and the count stays hidden until you choose to publish it.

Three ways a campaign earns its keep

A Best Of is a yearly event your audience looks forward to. These are the parts that make it worth running again.

Sell sponsor slots

Put sponsors on the ballot and results pages, and show them how many people clicked through.

Grow your list with consent

Voters can tick a box to join your newsletter. You export every opt-in with the wording they agreed to.

Verified results winners show off

Publish results backed by confirmed votes. On Campaign Plus and pilots, winners and finalists get a badge that links back to your results page.

The problem with normal polls

A vote is only worth running if the result holds up

Anyone can refresh a free poll and vote again. Nominees notice, losers dispute the result, and the whole thing stops being something people want to win.

Every vote is confirmed

A vote stays pending until the voter opens the email and presses Confirm my vote. Unconfirmed votes expire after 48 hours and never count.

One person, one vote

One vote per email per category, enforced by the database. Address tricks like dots and plus signs are normalized, and disposable inboxes are blocked.

Counts stay hidden

Nobody sees the tally while voting is open, so there is no bandwagon effect and no live scoreboard for anyone trying to game it.

How a campaign runs

A campaign is an ordinary Shelfy collection with voting switched on. Your links become the nominees.

  1. 1

    Draft

Name the campaign, add your categories, set the voting dates and the wording of your opt-in box.

  2. 2

    Nominees

Add nominees from your collection links. Each one gets its own share link so you can see who brings voters.

  3. 3

    Voting

The ballot is live. Counts stay hidden, and anything suspicious waits in your review queue.

  4. 4

    Closed

Voting stops, unconfirmed votes expire, and you clear the review queue.

  5. 5

    Results

Publish the results page and share it. Your subscriber list exports as a CSV.

A ballot on your own link

Your categories and nominee cards that pull in a photo and description from each nominee's own site. A "How votes are counted" page is linked from every ballot, so the rules are public before anyone disputes them.

Share links per nominee

Every nominee gets a personal link. Your dashboard shows which of them is actually bringing voters in.

Subscribers, with consent

An unticked box that names your newsletter. We store the exact wording each voter agreed to, and it never affects whether their vote counts.

A review queue

Suspicious voting, like a burst from one network, is flagged for you rather than blocked, because offices and cafes share an address. You void what you decide is not real, the reason is logged, and you can export an audit of every decision.

Your list, exported

Download every opt-in with the wording and the time it was given, plus a full vote export for your records. The list is yours, and Shelfy never emails your voters.

A results page that keeps working

Publish results when you are ready, then share one link. Winners tend to link back to it all year, which keeps sending people to your campaign long after voting closes.

Who runs campaigns

Newsletters and local media

Readers Picks: the best cafe, bakery and pub in town.

New subscribers, a yearly tradition, and something sponsors want to be part of.

Online communities

Best tools of the year, voted by your members.

An engagement spike, and new members arriving from the nominees who share the ballot.

Meetups and conferences

Let members pick the next talks, or run a people choice award.

You know what people want before you book speakers, and your list grows while they vote.

Agencies

Best-of campaigns for a council, a business precinct or a festival client.

A deliverable you can run every year and bill for.
